Wedge Street House
New house
167 square metres
2015
Discerning clients and an unusual urban site in Kyneton brought life to this project from its inception. A ‘battle-axe’ block with an established micro-vineyard and several large eucalypt trees provided the backdrop for a low-lying building form clad in naturally greying-off timber and dark-painted framework. The house was designed to be a pared-back backdrop to the garden – designed by the owner/horticulturist/educator. 7.5 Star rated, with focus on sustainably-sourced and recyclable materials, the passive-solar design maximises views to the northern garden and vineyard, and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor living areas.
